Berkowits Hair and Skin Clinics is offering franchises across India for the first time, with two formats and a 15% revenue share under its FOCO proposal. The 38-year-old chain runs 45 clinics across more than 17 cities, including Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata and several Tier 2 markets. It acquired Richfeel Hair Clinics in 2024, widening both its national footprint and product portfolio.
CEO Arpit Goel said the business began expanding beyond Delhi NCR as demand grew in other markets. The company now wants partners, not just company-owned clinics, to drive its next phase.
What does a partner actually buy?
Berkowits offers two formats: Standard and Luxe. The Luxe clinic houses an operation theatre for hair transplant procedures. The Standard clinic works as a local treatment and booking centre and refers transplant cases to a Luxe site. Under the FOCO model, the franchise partner invests while the company runs operations. Under the FO model, the partner manages locally with the brand's training, marketing, HR and operational support.
The numbers matter. The FOCO proposal lists a 15% revenue share; the FO proposal lists a 10% royalty. Projected returns and payback periods in the brand's presentation are estimates, not guarantees. Prospective franchisees should confirm commercial terms directly with the company.
Which markets is Berkowits targeting?
The company wants FO partners particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets, where hands-on local owners can oversee daily operations. Partners do not need a medical background, since training is provided. Clinical procedures, however, must be performed by appropriately qualified professionals.
The service stack includes surgical hair transplants, non-surgical hair replacement, hair loss treatments, laser hair reduction, skin treatments and anti-ageing procedures. Its product portfolio spans more than 100 SKUs across the Grow, Nourish, Renew, Radiate, Protect and Clear ranges. Clinics use an AI-powered hair generator to let clients preview hairstyles and an AI-enabled trichoscope to track scalp health, hair density and thickness.
Berkowits is one of several brands pitching franchise models to Indian investors right now, at very different capital levels.
What else is on the franchise market?
- JSW One Homes wants Sales and Operations Partners for individual home construction. The partner fee is ₹15 lakh plus GST, with office setup at ₹25–30 lakh. The company recommends ₹2.5–3 crore in comfortable funding capacity; one illustration showed peak funding of ₹2.44 crore and net money at risk of ₹1.22 crore. Partners earn a 3.5% execution fee on completed work value. JSW One Homes reports more than 500 completed projects, over 300 under construction, and a target of 40 cities by financial year 2028.
- Granitogres, established in 2015 under the ABC Group, sells premium tiles through a zero-inventory franchise model: stores show samples, orders ship from central warehouses. It offers 700-plus designs across 14 signature surfaces. A Studio format costs about Rs 82 lakh; a Design Studio about Rs 1.13 crore. The first 10 franchises pay an early fee of Rs 5 lakh on a five-year agreement. Expansion focuses on Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka.
- JBC Ventures, parent of Just Buy Cycles and Just Buy Electric, operates 32 company-owned stores, has served more than one million customers and generated over ₹600 crore in group revenue. Group CEO Rohit Kuttappa said the electric mobility business is growing 70% year-on-year. The company plans 330-plus outlets by 2031 under a Franchise Invested Company Operated model, starting in South India.
- Chromebook is using franchising to close India's computing gap: over 600 million people use mobile phones, but only about 10 million own a laptop. Its Gurugram pilot store lifted walk-ins 90% and demonstrations 135%. Retail Expansion Lead Gunjan Singhvi said India could become "a very good playbook for the company that could probably be replicated in countries like Brazil and Indonesia." The target is a 20% share of the Indian laptop market in four to five years.
Why the wellness tailwind matters for Berkowits
The category backdrop favours clinic chains. India's health and wellness market was valued at over $164 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach nearly $258 billion by 2034. A Deloitte India and Health and Fitness Association report projects the fitness market to grow from roughly Rs 16,200 crore in 2024 to Rs 37,700 crore by 2030.
Jewellery retail shows the same organised-brand shift. Industry watchers expect branded players to hold 43–47% of India's jewellery market by 2029, up from roughly 37% in 2024, in a market projected at $130–140 billion.
For Berkowits, the bet is that a 45-clinic network, an acquired brand and AI-assisted diagnostics can convert a fragmented hair and skin market into a franchise system. Success will hinge on location suitability, partner capital and the commercial terms each franchisee finally negotiates.
