Fort Point Capital has sold AMS Fulfillment to Stord, the Atlanta-based e-commerce fulfillment and technology provider, closing out a seven-year investment that began in 2019.
Neither party disclosed financial terms. Lincoln International served as exclusive financial advisor to AMS, and Kirkland & Ellis provided legal counsel.
Under the Boston-based lower-middle-market firm's ownership, AMS grew from a regional fulfillment provider into a national logistics platform serving premium consumer brands in beauty, wellness, apparel and other consumer product categories. The company now runs multiple fulfillment locations serving digitally native and established brands that outsource their logistics.
How did AMS build its national footprint?
Two acquisitions did most of the geographic work. In January 2020, AMS bought Echo Data, an East Coast fulfillment company founded in 1991 with operations in Pennsylvania and Delaware. That deal created a bi-coastal logistics network and lifted AMS' capacity to serve customers across the United States.
In 2026, AMS acquired Vox Fulfillment, adding more than 200,000 square feet of warehouse operations in Provo, Utah. The purchase pushed coverage into the Mountain West, complementing existing East and West Coast operations.
Fort Point also pushed internal investment. AMS built proprietary warehouse management technology, automated fulfillment capabilities, customer service systems and shipping optimization tools to support growing consumer brands.
What does the company actually do?
Jay Catlin and his partners founded AMS in 2002 in Valencia, California, with 15 employees and a single client. The company developed a broad outsourced logistics offering:
- Direct-to-consumer order fulfillment
- Business-to-business retail distribution
- Warehouse and inventory management
- Freight management
- Reverse logistics
More than 95% of AMS' brand partners use it as their exclusive North American fulfillment provider, a figure the company ties to its focus on long-term customer relationships and specialized service.
"As a B-Corp, AMS was built on an employee centric culture focused on providing the best service to our customers in an environmentally sustainable manner," Catlin, AMS' co-founder and chief revenue officer, said. "In Fort Point, we found a partner who helped us further our impact and improve our services to customers while supporting the growth of the Company."
CEO Greg Morello credited the firm's deal support and strategy work. "The Fort Point team provided strong M&A support and steady strategic guidance enabling us to invest in our technology, people and customers," Morello said. "We look forward to continuing to serve our customers under the Stord banner offering best-in-class fulfillment services."
Why did Stord buy it?
Stord folds AMS into a larger commerce enablement platform that combines fulfillment operations with e-commerce technology. For AMS, the deal preserves existing customer relationships while giving the business access to Stord's broader network and infrastructure.
Fort Point Partner Christina Pai framed the exit as the payoff on the growth plan. "We are proud of all that the AMS team has accomplished during our hold and are excited to see the continued growth of the Company," Pai said. "They showed a clear commitment to exceptional service and long-term relationships while executing against the growth plan and building a highly valuable company."
What's next for Fort Point?
The firm isn't slowing down. Founded in 2011, Fort Point partners with founders and management teams to expand services businesses through operational improvements, strategic acquisitions, and investments in personnel and technology. It has completed more than 60 acquisitions since inception and is currently deploying capital from FPC Small Cap Fund III.
The sale ends a hold period marked by wider geographic reach, two complementary acquisitions and stronger technology. AMS customers now move onto Stord's platform — and Fort Point moves on to its next lower-middle-market services deal.
