Hyphenate has raised a $45 million Series A led by Nexus Venture Partners after posting 86-fold revenue growth over the past year. B Capital joined the round, along with existing investors Foundation Capital, BoldCap, and Gaia Ventures. The financing brings the company's total funding to $54 million.

The company, formerly known as Maximor, rebranded as Hyphenate shortly before announcing the round. It builds an autonomous finance platform designed for the office of the CFO. Its AI agents handle cash reconciliation, sales orders, invoicing, subledger maintenance, treasury, accounts payable, collections, general ledger accounting, reporting, and month-end close.

How did the company get here?

Hyphenate raised a $9 million seed round roughly one year before this Series A. Since then, the company said it has surpassed multi-million-dollar annual recurring revenue. Its agents now operate across hundreds of entities, thousands of bank accounts, and millions of daily transactions.

The customer numbers explain the revenue curve. Hyphenate said customers report approximately 90% less repetitive finance work and 75% fewer audit exceptions. Adoption compounds: 40% of customers expand their usage within their first year, and the average customer runs six modules.

CEO Ramnandan Krishnamurthy described the mechanism as a chain of trust. "Our customers are watching that list shrink in production. Once a team sees the system handle one workflow to an auditor's standard, they hand it the next one," said Krishnamandan Krishnamurthy — in his words: "Our customers are watching that list shrink in production. Once a team sees the system handle one workflow to an auditor's standard, they hand it the next one."

What are customers actually saving?

Two customers supplied concrete figures. Mini Melts USA said its implementation saves 16,640 hours of finance work annually. HiBid has processed more than $2.5 billion in gross merchandise value through Hyphenate's order-to-cash automation and cut its month-end close from three weeks to one day.

Other named customers include Groupon and Synthesia.

Where does the money go?

Hyphenate plans to use the Series A to push its agents deeper across finance functions and into strategic financial planning and decision-making. That moves the product from back-office bookkeeping toward the decisions CFOs actually own.

Abhishek Sharma, Managing Director at Nexus Venture Partners, framed the bet in terms of audit-grade reliability. "Hyphenate has built around that bar from the beginning, and the expansion we are seeing inside customers shows what becomes possible once the system earns the right to take on more work," Sharma said.

The investment case rests on expansion inside existing accounts rather than acquisition alone. With 40% of customers adding modules in year one and workloads measured in billions of dollars of transaction value, the next test is whether autonomous agents can hold an auditor's standard in planning work, not just reconciliation.
