Surrey Marks Small Business Week With Entrepreneur Fair and Black Business Expo

By Olivia Hart

Surrey is hosting an entrepreneur fair and a Black Business Expo to mark Small Business Week, according to the Surrey Now-Leader.

That is the full extent of what the announcement contains. The report names the two events and ties them to the national Small Business Week observance. It does not state venues, dates, times, registration terms, or sponsoring organizations.

What do we actually know?

The source confirms three facts:

• An entrepreneur fair will take place in Surrey.
• A Black Business Expo will take place in Surrey.
• Both events are scheduled in connection with Small Business Week.

Small Business Week is a longstanding Canadian tradition, typically held in the third week of October, that spotlights entrepreneurship through local events across the country. The announcement does not specify which day the Surrey events fall on.

What is not said?

The report omits every operational detail a business owner would need: cost of attendance, exhibitor requirements, expected participant counts, and which organizations are backing the Expo. It also gives no figures on Surrey's Black-owned business community or the size of its small-business base overall.

Without a named organizer, there is no way to verify the events' scale from the announcement itself.

The takeaway in plain words: Surrey has two Small Business Week events on the calendar, and anyone planning to attend will need to confirm the specifics with local organizers before showing up.
