  • Xora, a unit of Singapore's Temasek, led a US$53 million funding round in AI startup Hang Ten, Asia Asset Management reports.
  • Hang Ten's valuation, co-investors and use of proceeds were not disclosed in the report.
  • The deal extends Temasek-linked vehicles' track record of direct investments in artificial intelligence companies.

Xora, a unit of Singapore's state-owned investor Temasek, has led a US$53 million funding round in the artificial intelligence startup Hang Ten, Asia Asset Management reports.

The deal signals continued appetite among Temasek-linked vehicles for direct exposure to early-stage AI companies. Xora, which operates as a venture arm under the Temasek umbrella, took the lead investor position in the round, according to the report.

Temasek has been one of Asia's most active institutional investors in artificial intelligence. The firm has previously backed AI ventures across multiple markets, and its subsidiary's decision to lead Hang Ten's round extends that track record into a fresh mandate.

The US$53 million cheque sizes Xora's bet firmly in the growth-stage bracket for an AI startup, a segment where competition among sovereign-linked investors has intensified over the past two years.

Asia Asset Management first reported the funding round. Details on Hang Ten's other investors, the startup's valuation and the intended use of proceeds were not disclosed in the report.

The investment lands as sovereign and state-linked funds across Asia ramp up allocations to AI infrastructure and applications. Temasek's involvement through Xora gives Hang Ten both capital and a strategic shareholder with deep networks across Southeast Asian enterprise markets.

Whether Hang Ten converts that backing into regional scale will determine whether Xora's US$53 million bet becomes a portfolio anchor or a footnote in the state investor's AI push.
