What's News
- X announced the U.S. Cashtag Partner Program on Sept. 22 with Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken, Interactive Brokers and Moomoo as partners.
- Trades are executed on partner platforms, not on X; X only routes users via a "Trade" button on ticker pages like $BTC and $TSLA.
- Kraken's integration covers nearly 2,500 assets, and Interactive Brokers offers a $100 promotional credit to new eligible U.S. clients funding accounts through the Cashtag flow.
Elon Musk's X has connected its stock, ETF and cryptocurrency pages to five outside trading platforms, cutting the distance between a financial post and an actual order.
The company announced the U.S. Cashtag Partner Program on Sept. 22 in a post on X. The launch partners are Coinbase, Gemini, Kraken, Interactive Brokers and Moomoo. Users who open a supported ticker page — such as $BTC or $TSLA — now see a "Trade" button alongside the usual price chart and posts.
"X is the best source of financial news for traders and investors, and we've made it easier than ever to connect financial conversations with the ability to trade," the company's Business account said on X.
X itself does not execute the trade. The transaction happens on the chosen partner's app or website. Once a user selects a Cashtag, X displays a live price chart alongside related posts, then shows available trading partners. The user signs into an existing account or creates one on that platform to complete the trade. Execution, eligibility and account terms all sit with the partner exchange or brokerage.
Kraken confirmed its role in a separate blog post. The company said its Cashtag integration covers nearly 2,500 assets across both its centralized and decentralized offerings.
Interactive Brokers confirmed the launch in its own post. New eligible U.S. clients can receive a $100 promotional credit if they open and fund an account through the Cashtag flow.
The program builds on an earlier X feature called Smart Cashtags, which tied ticker symbols to real-time charts and dedicated asset pages. The new rollout stays separate from X Money, the platform's payments product, which currently offers no direct link for funding trades.
The move signals X's continued push into financial services under Musk, positioning the platform as a hub for market conversation while leaving the regulated business of execution to licensed partners. With five brokerages and exchanges already signed on, the question for the program's next phase is whether X deepens the integration — or keeps the wall between conversation and order flow intact.
