ABA Life said it signed a $40 million investment agreement with Admaius Capital Partners, giving the five-year-old Moroccan healthtech company a pan-African institutional backer.

The agreement covers ABA Life, the healthcare arm of ABA Technology, and remains subject to customary closing conditions and clearance by Morocco’s Competition Council. The announcement disclosed no closing date, equity stake, valuation, payment schedule or use of proceeds.

What does the $40 million agreement establish?

The signed agreement calls for a $40 million investment from Admaius Capital Partners. It remains a conditional transaction rather than a closed investment because both customary closing requirements and regulatory clearance are still outstanding.

For the transaction, the only disclosed figure is the $40 million investment value. ABA Life did not publish revenue, margin, profit or user figures, so the announcement offers no numerical check on its claim that the model is profitable.

ABA Life’s five-year operating history gives Admaius an established company rather than a newly formed venture. Even so, the profitability claim remains unquantified in the announcement.

In plain terms, the headline amount is clear, but the investment is not final.

What has ABA Life built?

Founded five years ago, ABA Life works across five areas that the company links in an integrated healthcare model:

  • Artificial intelligence and proprietary technology developed in Morocco.
  • Medical technology, including medical devices.
  • Telemedicine.
  • Connected health infrastructure.
  • Healthcare and care operations.

ABA Life’s own account describes those elements as a profitable, integrated model rather than a stand-alone digital service. The announcement did not quantify revenue, earnings, patients, provider contracts or the geography of operations.

The breadth is the central operating claim in the investment case, but it is also the least documented part in numerical terms.

Why did Admaius select ABA Life?

Selim Ettriqui, head of Morocco and West Africa at Admaius, said: “From our very first discussions, we were impressed by what ABA Life has built: an integrated healthcare operator combining medical devices, connected infrastructure, care operations and proprietary technology developed in Morocco.”

His assessment focused on the mix of physical infrastructure, care delivery and locally developed technology. The integration of those pieces, rather than a single product category, is what the fund explicitly praised.

Marlon Chigwende, managing partner at Admaius, said: “ABA Life has the qualities we look for in our investments: an ambitious entrepreneurial team, a proven business model, strong technology foundations and significant potential to scale. We are convinced of its ability to become an international healthtech reference and are pleased to support this ambition.”

Chigwende tied the investment to three claims from ABA Life: a proven business model, strong technology foundations and significant scale potential. The first two are the fund’s stated reasons; the third remains a forward-looking ambition.

The announcement does not quantify ABA Life’s international operations. Chigwende’s reference to an “international healthtech reference” describes the destination he expects the Moroccan company to pursue.

Who is backing ABA Life?

Admaius Capital Partners is a pan-African private equity firm based in Kigali, Rwanda. The firm has offices in Casablanca, Nairobi, Johannesburg, Tunis and Cairo, and a presence in London.

Admaius said it invests across five sectors:

  • Healthcare.
  • Digital infrastructure.
  • Financial services.
  • Consumer goods.
  • Education.

ABA Life sits directly in the firm’s healthcare focus, while the deal also connects the investment to AI, connected infrastructure and care operations. The company’s five-year age, integrated model and Morocco-developed technology form the core of Admaius’s investment case.

For Admaius, this is a direct sector fit: the fund has agreed to back an integrated healthcare operator rather than a stand-alone software product.

What has to happen next?

The transaction now has two stated gates: customary closing conditions and clearance by Morocco’s Competition Council. The announcement set no deadline for either step and offered no timetable for a completed investment.

ABA Life’s business is the source of both the deal’s appeal and its execution risk. Admaius cited profitability, integration and scale; the announcement supplied no revenue, earnings, patient, device, market-share or international-expansion figures against which to test those claims.

After closing, the practical test is whether ABA Life can deliver the international scale Chigwende described. The next hard test, though, is regulatory clearance; until it is secured, the $40 million agreement remains conditional rather than closed.
