  • The pension manager is simultaneously selling a stake in an infrastructure trust
  • Deal terms such as buyers, prices and managers were not disclosed in the report

Quebec's Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec is investing $75 million in an alternative credit strategy, according to a Benefits Canada report.

The pension manager disclosed the commitment alongside a separate transaction: the sale of a stake in an infrastructure trust. Benefits Canada reported both moves in the same announcement.

The $75 million allocation targets private credit, an asset class that pension investors have expanded aggressively since 2020 as they seek higher yields outside public fixed income. The report did not specify the name of the credit strategy's manager, the fund's structure, or the expected return profile.

The infrastructure trust stake sale marks a divestment for the Caisse, which manages public pension and insurance assets in Quebec. The report did not disclose the buyer, the size of the stake sold, or the sale price.

Benefits Canada, a trade publication covering Canadian workplace pension and benefits investment, published the report on its site. The Caisse has not yet filed additional deal documents with details on either transaction.

Investors will watch whether the Caisse discloses further terms — including the credit strategy's mandate and the infrastructure trust's valuation — in subsequent filings or its next quarterly report.
