Italian mobility scale-up Hlpy closed a €20 million hybrid funding round and acquired 100% of vehicle logistics specialist Carvoilà, the company announced on 23 September 2026. BNP Paribas BNL Equity Investments (BBEI), a BNP Paribas Group unit, joined as a new minority shareholder in the transaction.
What does the deal include?
The funding round blends an equity component with a debt component. Hlpy declined to disclose the proportion of each. The proceeds will bankroll strategic acquisitions and organic expansion across Europe. Carvoilà's two founders, Francesca Vidali and Michela Conti, will join the Hlpy Group. Hlpy kept the financial terms of the Carvoilà purchase undisclosed.
Who is BBEI, and why is it backing Hlpy?
BBEI specialises in minority investments in Italian small and medium-sized enterprises. Its entry adds institutional weight to Hlpy's capital structure and signals confidence in the company's pan-European build-out. Hlpy already operates in four continental markets:
- France
- Germany
- Austria
- Spain
What does Carvoilà bring to the table?
Carvoilà is a specialist in vehicle handling and logistics. Its services extend Hlpy's offering beyond roadside assistance, repair and maintenance. Hlpy plans to deploy the Carvoilà model across the four European countries it already serves, harvesting operational and geographic synergies.
What did the executives say?
Hlpy CEO Valerio Chiaronzi framed the deal as a step toward becoming the "pan-European orchestrator of vehicle services." He said: "The new round of funding and BBEI's investment in the company confirm the confidence in our business model and enable us to further accelerate both organic and external growth, with the aim of consolidating our presence in Europe."
BBEI CEO Lorenzo Langella positioned the bet as a mandate match. "We are confident that this new round of funding will further consolidate the position of a technology platform that is transforming the roadside assistance services ecosystem and contribute to the creation of a European leader," he said.
Carvoilà co-founder Vidali pointed to network reach as the pull factor. "The strength of Hlpy's network in France, Germany, Austria and Spain will enable us to grow rapidly and expand our business across Europe, reaching new markets and enhancing our customers' experience," she said.
What is the revenue target?
Hlpy is steering toward a €100 million recurring revenue milestone by 2027. The Carvoilà integration is expected to contribute from 2026 onwards. The combined platform now aims to span the full vehicle service chain:
- Roadside assistance
- Repairs
- Maintenance
- Vehicle handling and logistics
What changes for customers and competitors?
Hlpy wants to evolve from a digital mobility-assistance platform into an integrated vehicle-services ecosystem. The strategy rests on stitching together technology, proprietary data, an operational network and specialist know-how. Chiaronzi described the platform as now "capable of supporting the vehicle throughout the entire pre- and post-sales service chain."
Vidali and Conti will help replicate Carvoilà's model abroad. "Not only because of the strong synergy between our organisations, which will maximise the impact and value for our business partners, but also because of the shared values and working methods that have characterised our relationship right from the start," Vidali added.
What to watch next
The next 12 months will test whether the Carvoilà integration delivers the operational efficiency and geographic lift Hlpy has promised. The €100 million recurring revenue target now anchors investor expectations, and any shortfall against that 2027 line will sharpen the debate over whether Hlpy's platform model scales outside its core four markets.
