Maple Park Capital, a private equity firm founded only in 2025, has been named to Inc.'s 2026 Founder-Friendly Investors list — a distinction built on feedback from entrepreneurs who have sold their companies to financial sponsors. The Dallas- and New York-based firm received the recognition before it has disclosed exits, a fact worth weighing against the award's methodology, which measures founders' experiences during partnerships rather than realized returns.
Inc. compiles the annual list by surveying founders who have sold to private equity, venture capital and lending firms, evaluating how their businesses performed inside those partnerships. The publication says the methodology privileges founders' perspectives over traditional financial metrics. That framing is a promise about relationship quality; it is not an audited performance record.
What does Maple Park actually do?
The firm targets lower-middle-market service companies in North America. Its stated investment criteria are recurring demand, attractive unit economics, consistent cash flow and experienced leadership teams. Capital goes toward organic growth, acquisitions and long-term business development.
Maple Park says it supplies portfolio companies with operational support that smaller firms often cannot fund on their own:
- Executive recruitment and access to experienced operating advisors
- Technology upgrades, including artificial intelligence adoption
- Additional capital for strategic growth initiatives
The firm argues this matters most as founder-led companies outgrow their early stages, when new markets, deeper management benches and better internal processes demand expertise and money founders may not have. Maple Park positions itself as a partner working alongside existing leadership rather than a purely financial investor.
Who is behind it?
Co-founder and managing partner Alexander Blankfein frames the firm's philosophy in explicit terms. "The founder's perspective is one built into every stage of our value creation process," Blankfein said. He said the firm seeks partnerships balancing financial performance with founders' individual objectives, emphasizing trust, collaboration and a shared commitment to sustainable businesses.
Fellow co-founder and managing partner Andrew Lauck credited the firm's portfolio partners for the recognition. "As founders ourselves, we understand the pride our partners have in their businesses and the importance of taking a collaborative approach to driving business value," Lauck said. He added that Maple Park intends to keep helping portfolio companies pursue growth while building on what their founders established. The sentiment is standard private equity language; Inc.'s founder-sourced methodology is what gives it a testable basis.
What is in the portfolio?
Since its formation, Maple Park has invested in two consumer-services businesses. The first is Rita's Italian Ice & Frozen Custard, which the firm describes as the world's largest Italian ice concept, operating in frozen desserts. The second is Prep Network, a youth sports platform offering subscription-based content, live events and services that support collegiate athlete recruitment.
Two deals represent a thin sample for a reputation award, and Inc. does not disclose how many founder surveys underpinned Maple Park's inclusion. The firm says the investments reflect its interest in service businesses with established customer demand, scalable operating models and room to expand through both internal initiatives and acquisitions.
Beyond its current holdings, Maple Park targets several services niches: multi-unit businesses, franchisors and franchisees, youth enrichment, travel and hospitality, and selected business services. The breadth of that mandate contrasts with a two-company portfolio, suggesting ambition ahead of deployment.
What comes next?
For Maple Park, the listing marks an early milestone as it develops its investment platform in the North American services sector. The firm's leadership brings decades of investment experience and established industry relationships, combining financial resources with hands-on operational support, according to the company. Inc., published by Mansueto Ventures LLC — which also publishes Fast Company — has posted the complete 2026 list at Inc.com. The recognition gives the young firm credibility with founders; whether it earns repeat inclusion will depend on how Rita's and Prep Network perform under its ownership.
