Estonian startup Roleo has raised €2.9 million to expand its personal AI career agent across Europe, pushing its total funding to €3.46 million. The round was led by Baltic venture firm Practica Capital, with Nordic VC Inventure participating.
Roleo, founded in 2025, builds AI agents for technology professionals that watch the job market on their behalf. The agent learns a user's experience, ambitions, compensation expectations, flexibility needs and development goals, then surfaces relevant opportunities and connects professionals directly with employers when interest is mutual. No application required.
What does this change for tech professionals?
The core pitch flips the recruiting model. Instead of candidates searching job boards and applying, Roleo brings opportunities to them — and the service is free for professionals. Users control their visibility, personal information and whether they pursue any given opening.
"Most people spend years building their careers, but only actively manage them when something goes wrong or they decide it is time for a change. Meanwhile, great opportunities come and go, often without the right people ever hearing about them," says Janer Gorohhov, co-founder and CEO of Roleo.
"We believe everyone should have a personal active career agent that understands what they want, keeps an eye on the market, and brings relevant opportunities to them. You should be able to focus on doing great work without missing out on what could come next."
The traction is real, if early. Since the start of 2026, Roleo's agent has connected users with 30,000 career opportunities they explored further. Its user base already includes people from Google, Amazon, Stripe and Spotify.
A €90.5 million wave in European recruiting tech
Roleo's round lands in a crowded funding cycle for AI-powered workforce technology in 2026:
- Jack & Jill (London) — €34.68 million for AI agents connecting jobseekers and employers
- Spott (Belgium) — €18.3 million for recruitment software
- Orbio (Spain) — €18.09 million
- HrFlow.ai (France) — €6 million
- 50skills (Iceland) — €5.3 million
- inploi (UK) — €3.4 million
- Ringtime (Belgium) — €1.8 million
Together with Roleo, those eight rounds total roughly €90.5 million in newly announced funding — a signal that investors see job matching as one of AI's clearest near-term applications.
Practica Capital, which led Roleo's round, closed its own €80 million Baltic-focused fund in 2024, which presumably helped mobilise this investment.
Founders with unicorn pedigree
The team is a big part of the story. Gorohhov co-founded identity verification unicorn Veriff. Co-founder Vahur Hansen was an early engineering team member at Wise and co-founded startup Membo.
"We saw potential in the Roleo founders – their proven operational experience and grounded, yet very high ambition. They came with a clear short-term plan and a long-term vision that's easy to relate to. Leading this round was a natural fit for us, and we believe they are the team best positioned to set a new standard for how people build their careers," says Donatas Keras, Partner at Practica Capital.
Bolt founder and CEO Markus Villig also invested as an angel. "I've watched Janer build Veriff and I know what Vahur did at Wise. Both know first-hand how hard it is to find and hire great people across Europe," Villig said.
The bigger bet: careers, not just jobs
Gorohhov frames Roleo as more than job matching. "AI is already changing how people handle everyday tasks, from managing information to organising their finances. Yet career management still requires people to do most of the work themselves," he said.
"We want to build something that stays with you throughout your career, learns what matters to you, and helps you make better decisions over time. The goal isn't to have AI make career decisions for people, but to make sure they have the right information and opportunities when those decisions matter."
The new funding will bankroll expansion across European markets and further product development — making the agent more responsive to individual needs and broadening what it can do beyond matching people to jobs. If Roleo delivers, the practical effect for tech workers is a passive career layer: opportunities arrive whether or not you're looking.
