AI infrastructure company fal has raised $1.3 billion in a Series F round that values the business at $16 billion — double the $8 billion valuation it commanded in April, according to Bloomberg. Bessemer Venture Partners led the round, with participation from NVIDIA, Sound Ventures, HOF Capital and T. Rowe Price.

The fresh capital lands on top of a $350 million Series E that fal closed in April, led by Sequoia Capital. Together, the two rounds total $1.65 billion in funding raised this year.

What does fal actually build?

Fal, founded in 2021 by Turkish entrepreneurs Burkay Gür and Görkem Yurtseven, develops infrastructure for generative media. Its platform lets businesses run image, video and audio AI models at scale.

The customer base spans entertainment, advertising, e-commerce, gaming and marketing. These companies use fal to integrate generative AI into existing production and creative workflows rather than rebuilding them from scratch.

The pitch rests on a simple premise: as generative media spreads across these industries, companies need computing infrastructure that supports high-volume content generation without degrading model performance or efficiency. Whether fal's infrastructure delivers that balance at scale is the question its new $16 billion valuation now has to answer.

Where has the company focused in 2026?

During 2026, fal concentrated on improving the quality and speed of generative media models through post-training techniques. Post-training refers to refinement work applied after a base model has been trained, sharpening output quality and inference speed.

The company has also continued developing its own models alongside those provided by its partners, expanding what its platform can do. That dual-track approach — proprietary models plus partner models — positions fal as both an infrastructure operator and a model developer, though the company has not disclosed how revenue splits between the two.

What will the money fund?

The funding will support three things:

  • Expansion of fal's inference infrastructure
  • Growth of its team
  • Further development of its generative media technology

The company also plans to invest in research and explore new approaches to AI-powered content creation throughout 2027.

The valuation question

Doubling a valuation from $8 billion to $16 billion in roughly eight months is a bold move in a market where AI infrastructure spending faces growing scrutiny. Neither fal nor its investors have disclosed current revenue, growth rates or the multiple implied by the $16 billion figure.

What is clear is the caliber of backers now behind the company: Bessemer Venture Partners, Sequoia Capital, NVIDIA, Sound Ventures, HOF Capital and T. Rowe Price. NVIDIA's continued participation matters beyond capital — the chipmaker's stake aligns fal with the dominant supplier of the computing hardware its inference business depends on.

The test ahead is execution. Fal has committed its new capital to infrastructure buildout and research through 2027, and its investors will expect the generative media market to keep expanding fast enough to justify a price that has doubled twice-over since spring.
