U.S. Chamber Takes Free Enterprise Tour to Lexington

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce brought its Free Enterprise Express Opportunity Tour to Lexington, convening business and community leaders at Forcht Bank in partnership with Commerce Lexington for a roundtable on housing affordability and the local solutions needed to expand housing supply and support workforce growth.

Participants also discussed how permitting delays and tariff-driven cost increases are affecting businesses and slowing economic growth, according to the U.S. Chamber.

The event brought together Commerce Lexington, U.S. Chamber Vice President of the Great Lakes Region Kevin Courtois, and local business leaders.

"Free enterprise remains the most powerful driver of economic growth, job creation, and opportunity in communities across America," said Courtois. "Our discussion with local business leaders reinforced the important role entrepreneurs and employers play in strengthening Lexington's economy and expanding opportunity for workers and families. The Lexington stop is part of a larger campaign. The national Free Enterprise Express Opportunity Tour is a six-week trip through 20 states and more than 50 events. Its stated purpose: make the case for free enterprise in communities across America and push back against growing support for government-directed economic policies that the Chamber says threaten economic freedom, opportunity, innovation, and growth.

The Opportunity Tour sits under the U.S. Chamber's New Fight for Free Enterprise initiative, a multi-year strategic effort to defend, protect, and promote free enterprise.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce describes itself as the world's largest business organization, representing companies of all sizes across every sector of the economy. Its members range from small businesses and local chambers of commerce to leading industry associations and large corporations. For more than 114 years, the organization has advocated for pro-business policies aimed at helping businesses create jobs and grow the economy.

For Lexington's business community, the roundtable signals where the national lobbying agenda meets local pressure points. With housing supply, permitting timelines, and tariff-driven input costs on the table, the Chamber's tour suggests these issues will remain central to its policy push in the months ahead.
