U.S. Chamber Endorses Rep. Jim Costa for California's 21st District

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce has endorsed Rep. Jim Costa for reelection in California's Twenty-First Congressional District, the organization announced from Washington, D.C.

The endorsement positions one of the country's most influential business lobbying groups behind a Central Valley Democrat heading into the November contest. The U.S. Chamber said it endorses federal candidates who support policies that drive innovation, grow the economy, and create opportunities for American businesses and workers.

"Congressman Jim Costa has been a strong supporter of free enterprise and long-time champion of small businesses in the Central Valley," said Jennings Imel, Vice President at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber's statement went further than a routine pro-business commendation. It cast Costa as a rare cooperative figure in a polarized Congress.

"At a time of bitter partisan acrimony, Congressman Costa stands out as a bipartisan leader who's willing to work across the aisle on critical issues like water security, permitting reform, and public safety," Imel said. "We appreciate the congressman's dedication to delivering results for Central Valley businesses and families and are proud to support his reelection to California's 21st congressional district."

Costa responded to the endorsement in the Chamber's release. "It is an honor to once again receive the endorsement," he said, according to the truncated announcement distributed by the organization.

The backing carries practical weight in the district. California's 21st Congressional District covers the agriculturally driven Central Valley, an economy heavily dependent on water infrastructure, federal permitting decisions, and farm-sector access to labor and markets. The issues the Chamber singled out — water security and permitting reform — sit at the center of the Valley's economic agenda.

The U.S. Chamber endorsement also signals the group's willingness to cross party lines.
